#RunWithRefugees: Commonwealth Games Challenge

Join our friends at Together With Refugees to send a message of solidarity during the Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games are coming to Birmingham at the end of July! With the world’s attention on the UK, and as the ‘friendly games’ are historically ‘underpinned by the core values of humanity, equality and destiny’ it seems an ideal opportunity to send a clear message to the government that we need a fair and workable alternative to offshoring those who seek safety in the UK.

And what better way to do this than in a unique and thoroughly athletic way? So, we’re asking users of Strava (or any other running/route mapping tool or app) across the country to plan and run a route in the shape of a heart, share it on your app, tool and social channels and challenge five friends to complete it in a better time than you!

You don’t have to run! You can walk, cycle or skate. Big or small all that matters is that you take part, share it on your app and social media channels and show MPs and politicians that you support the UK as a place of safety for those fleeing war, terror and persecution.

All you need to do is:

1) Use a mapping app or online tool to plan out a route in the shape of a heart (you can use Strava, MapOmeter, Runkeeper, or any of the other apps and tools available).

2) Walk, run, cycle, skate your route.

3) Share the route and your time on the app and your social media channels using the hashtags #RunWithRefugees  #B2022 and tag us on Facebook or Twitter so we can share too.

4) Challenge up to five friends to complete your route and beat your time or create a route and time of their own to share.

As the Games begin on Thursday 28th July, we really need you to complete your run and share it by Monday 25th July in order to build momentum and media coverage ahead of the opening ceremony.

On your marks, get set, GO!
