On World Refugee Day (20 June), Freedom from Torture will be hosting a creative, solidarity action in Parliament Square as part of our Refugee Week 2018 celebrations and everyone is welcome to join them.
They’ll be creating a huge #SharingMySanctuary banner with personal messages of welcome in Parliament Square, London.
Refugee Week is a time where we celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK and show welcome. However, the reality for many people seeking refuge is that often feel unwelcome, unsafe and isolated when they arrive here. So, we’re inviting you to do something positive with a public show of support.
Join anytime between 12:30pm and 3pm, add your message, let refugees know they are welcome in the UK and show the UK Government that people believe the UK should be a sanctuary for people fleeing persecution.
You can find out more on the Freedom from Torture our website, and also invite your MP to meet you to show their support on this issue!
There is also a social media campaign running all week using the same hashtag, #SharingMySanctuary, so follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more.
