Memories from My Land – Piano piece released in support of City of Sanctuary

Internationally renowned classical pianist Margaret Fingerhut is launching the track ‘Memories from My Land’ to raise funds for City of Sanctuary.

‘Memories from My Land’ was specially written by Kurdish composer Moutaz Arian for Margaret’s piano recital series ‘Far From the Home I Love’ to raise awareness of the plight of those who have fled war, through the stories of some of the world’s most esteemed classical composers.

Margaret has already raised over £50,000 for City of Sanctuary and by November 2019 will have completed over 30 concerts in towns and cities across the UK to support local City of Sanctuary groups who work with refugees to make cities welcoming places for those fleeing war and persecution.

Memories from My Land is a deeply evocative piece that captures the emotion of being torn from one’s homeland. Composer Moutaz Arian’s previous commissions include the Refugee National Anthem for the Refugee Nation at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In Arian’s own words:

“Music is the best language to deliver my message to humanity, which is to love each other, and this language does not require a translation”

The track composed by Moutaz Arian, performed by Margaret Fingerhut and recorded and produced by Nick Parker, is available to download at the following link: https://margaretfingerhut.bandcamp.com/

All profits go to City of Sanctuary.

The track is also available to download and stream on a number of global music platforms and via Horus Music, all profits will also be donated to City of Sanctuary.
