A Westminster Hall Debate on the asylum accommodation contracts has been secured by Alex Cunningham MP on Wednesday 10 October.

The Government is weeks away from signing contracts that determine asylum accommodation and support for the next 10 years, but to date the proposals have not come before Parliament. Persistent concerns with the quality of accommodation and lack of local oversight and accountability have not been addressed throughout the past 6 years of the current COMPASS contracts. The Home Office appear to be working to an ‘as-is’ model which disregards the recommendations of the Home Affairs Select Committee and doesn’t recognise the crucial role played by Local Authorities and the Third Sector. Together with Scottish Refugee Council, Asylum Matters have produced a briefing

on the issue for MPs. For details, please contact Katie at [email protected]
