The political landscape of 2024 presented us with key opportunities to advocate for positive change, particularly during the General Election when our networks mobilised to ensure refugee rights remained at the forefront of public discourse.

In the aftermath of the far right riots in July, City of Sanctuary groups across the country played a crucial role in safeguarding communities affected and working to rebuilding trust and understanding.

Our networks have continued to grow, driven by individuals and organisations who refuse to accept the politics of division. In schools, universities, councils and much more we’ve seen an inspiring surge in people stepping forward to make concrete policy and culture changes, as well as volunteer, speak up, and take action for refugee rights.

This grassroots momentum has been particularly heartening given the challenges we face.
