This is why I’m running a triathalon for City of Sanctuary

My name is Ori and I’m eleven years old. In August I have set myself a challenge to complete my first ever triathlon to raise money for City of Sanctuary UK. I will be swimming (2km), cycling (30km) and walking (15km) a total of 47km because, very sadly, there were roughly 47 million children living displaced from their homes in 2023

I was very lucky to grow up in a house which we shared with people seeking sanctuary from around the world. I met lots of children who were forced to leave their homes and some had even had to leave their families and I want to do anything I can to help in this situation. Some of my friends have had to leave their homes and I know how important it is that they feel welcomed into the communities they now live in after they have had such difficult experiences.

Our home growing up was a ‘Home of Sanctuary’ and I think the work that City of Sanctuary groups do across the UK – including in my home town of Norwich – to create a warm welcome for people seeking sanctuary is really special.

If you could help – even in a very small way – to support me with my challenge to raise money for City of Sanctuary I know it would mean a lot to a lot of people.

Thank you so much.
