International Migrants Day might not be until 18th December, but it’s never too early to start planning!
We are partnering with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and IMIX to reflect on the role of migrants in our societies, their positive contribution, and the challenges they face in achieving their full potential and capabilities. This day is also a reminder that human rights are not ‘earned’ by virtue of being a hero or a victim, but are an entitlement of everyone, regardless of origin, age, gender and status.
We have worked with IOM on a series of creative activities for schools to get involved with for International Migrants Day.
1) Design and create a special Blue Plaque celebrating the contribution of people from migrant backgrounds in your area. Download a Blue Plaque template here, see an example here.
2) Create a community paperchain.
Find more information and detailed explanations of both activities here.
Don’t forget to let us know if you plan to get involved! We cannot wait to see your creations!
