This government plans to open a vast new camp in North Yorkshire. 1,500 people will be sent to this tiny rural community with no support in place.⁣

It’s the wrong plan, in the wrong place.⁣
⁣
The government’s track history of institutionalised accommodation isn’t good. Napier and Penally, former barracks used to house people, were condemned for being brutally inhumane and woefully inadequate. ⁣
⁣
People seeking sanctuary should be housed in our communities as our neighbours. It’s cheaper, it’s kinder, it’s clearly the right thing to do. ⁣

This camp is a very bad sign of things to come.⁣
