University of Strathclyde in Glasgow wins the ‘Diversity through Education’ Award for their work with people seeking asylum and refugees

Huge congratulations to colleagues at the University of Strathclyde who have been awarded the Diversity through Education Award at the Herald and GenAnalytics National Diversity Awards 2019 on Wednesday the 9th of October, in recognition of their work with people seeking asylum and refugees in the local area.

The University of Strathclyde, based within the dispersal city of Glasgow, has a long-standing tradition of engagement with this community, well-evidenced by their excellent programme of Asylum Seeker Scholarships – currently 17 people seeking asylum are undertaking higher education at the University.

University of Strathclyde is kindly hosting a meeting of Scottish Universities with interest in the Universities of Sanctuary initiative on the 28th October – we look forward to working together to improve refugees’ access to higher education in Scotland.
