Amnesty’s Football Welcomes initiative has seen over 160 clubs in Britain signing up to take part in weekend for refugees. The initiative in its third year running aims to celebrate the contribution of refugees to the game. In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, Amnesty’s Naomi Westland expressed excitement about the positive response from football clubs and says it sends a clear message that “refugees are welcome”.
