Run, walk, swim or cycle: Make your miles count for Family Reunion this September

City of Sanctuary supporters might be interested in an event that the British Red Cross are holding this September.

Miles for Refugees is a unique challenge. Throughout September people are asked to run, walk, swim or cycle to reach a distance that they pick when they register. Distances range from 22 miles to 2,700 miles and are all related to a distance that refugees may be travelling (so 22 miles is the length of the English Channel and 2,700 miles is the distance from Damascus to London). People can take part individually or as a team. At registration, an online giving page is set up and this is also where people log their miles throughout the month either by linking the page to a Fitbit, Strava or Map my Fitness account or by manually updating the page.

Registration is £10 and the Red Cross are asking people to raise £100 in sponsorship. The money raised is going towards the Red Cross family reunion project. This vital work supports people who have been given the right to remain in the UK to bring their family over safely and quickly.
