The Home Office has ended their policy of automatic settlement after five years for those granted refugee status. Their new policy will mean that those granted five years leave to remain will have their status reviewed at the end of those five years and it will be determined if it is safe for them to return at that point.

This is likely to cause uncertainty for individuals and has implications for employment, housing and other areas of life, as well as causing stress and worry.
