AN asylum seeker who sought sanctuary in Swansea has spoken of her sadness in fleeing her country and the warm welcome she received in her adopted home.

Aliya Khalil was working as an architect in Iraq when her brother’s political actions made their family an enemy of Saddam Hussein’s brutal regime.
