Yesterday this incredible lot graduated from our Sanctuary in Politics course!
This is an eleven week course held online designed for people with lived experience of forced migration to learn about the UK political system, develop campaigning skills and knowledge of how to work with the media so that they have the skills and confidence to lobby for change.
This unique course is designed and hosted by City of Sanctuary UK, with experts in UK politics, campaigning, and media providing interactive teaching sessions and facilitated discussions.
Each graduate completed a final project on a cause close to their heart: from asylum accommodation and modern day slavery to the availability of Halal meat. This cohort of participants lobbied their MPs, created corportate partnerships and built movements within their own communities.
It was truly inspiring to see this group of advocates, campaigners, activists, and future leaders celebrate their successes together.
