The theme of this year’s conference will be ‘Speak Up for Sanctuary’, and will have a particular focus on how to mobilise our networks to stand up for refugee rights.
The day will see speakers, performances and workshops from City of Sanctuary groups and awarded organisations. There will be two sessions of workshops covering:
-Campaigning as a group: how to make an impact. Run by Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network and Praxis.
-Speak up for Sanctuary: how to stand up for refugee rights and mobilise your community. Run by City of Sanctuary UK
-Reaching into the Mainstream: how to work with schools, universities and more to further campaign aims. Run by City of Sanctuary UK, Newcastle University and St Ambrose Barlow School
-Co-Production: how to involve people with lived experience in every aspect of your work. Run by City of Sanctuary UK.
-Race and Power: how to avoid damaging dynamics of power. Run by brap
-Community Welcome: how to counter the far right.
As well as plenty of opportunities to network with other City of Sanctuary groups.
This is the first year that we are charging for admission to the conference. This fee will cover venue hire and catering costs. Unfortunately, due to our funding deficit, charging for tickets is unavoidable.
We want this event to be inclusive and accessible so if your group is unable to pay the ticket fee, please get in touch with us via [email protected]
Max 2 tickets per group / organisation. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to add more tickets and we will add you to a waiting list.
Your ticket may be cancelled if you do not fall into one of the above ticket types.
