- The Scottish Government will be acting as a ‘super sponsor‘ for people from Ukraine who are looking for a host in Scotland. To apply via the Homes for Ukraine scheme, click here and select SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT as the sponsor. We will update about details of this route as they become clearer.
- Attend one of our information webinars about the practicalities of hosting and supporting all refugees.
- The VITA Network have created a ‘safe refuge’ welcome pack which you can use as a template to help prepare yourselves and your guests for their arrival. It takes you through some of the key pieces of information that you may wish to share with guests. Remember to ask your guests if there is anything in addition they would like to know or would find useful.
- Doctors of the World UK have produced some resources on access to healthcare in the UK, in a range of different languages, including Ukrainian and Russian. They also have a downloadable NHS GP Access card which outlines that everyone in England is entitled to register and receive treatment from a GP practice.
- Thrive LDN have produced new guidance, training and resources to support the mental health and wellbeing of displaced Ukrainians, see here.
- Insurers have agreed that for homeowners accommodating people from Ukraine in their home there is no need to contact your insurer, see here for more info.
- Dr Gill Martin, a psychotherapist specialising in refugee mental health, has compiled a very useful list of Host Guidelines.
- Lonely Planet have made their Ukrainian phrasebook free to access.
FOR UKRAINIAN PEOPLE SEEKING SANCTUARY
If you do not feel safe or your host does not make you feel safe, get in touch with your local council’s safeguarding lead. If it is an emergency and you need help now call 999.
- Institute of Translation and Interpretation have put together these Ukrainian translation resources.
- Ukraine Advice Project. This is a group of volunteer legal professionals with immigration and asylum expertise. They are providing a free service to connect Ukrainian citizens (and others fleeing Ukraine) with free legal advice on UK immigration, visas and asylum from qualified and regulated lawyers.
- Here for Good. Free legal advice for those applying to come to the UK from Ukraine.
- Settled. Settled supports the rights and wellbeing of EU citizens in the UK and responds to the emerging challenges that they face as a result of Brexit and with using the new digital-only immigration status.
- Barnardo’s have launched a helpline where they offer therapy with a qualified psychotherapist, advice and practical support such as access to digital devices as well as toys for children, vital baby items and more.
- Sole Survivor have resources on resources to help you Understand Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

- UK Government welcome guidance for Ukrainians. See here.
- Several travel companies are offering free travel to get to the UK:
- The Ukrainian Displaced Persons Travel Scheme offers free rail journeys across all train operators in England, Scotland and Wales.
- Eurostar is offering free tickets to help Ukrainian nationals travel from any Eurostar station to London St Pancras International.
- Airline Wizz Air is supporting Ukrainian nationals by offering 100,000 free seats on flights from Ukraine’s border countries.
