Last night Boris Johnson resigned as Prime Minister. When leadership changes, policies often change too. It’s time that regressive and cruel asylum policies were also given the boot.

We need to make sure that all leadership hopefuls know that sending people seeking sanctuary to Rwanda is brutal, unfair and unworkable. We all know it, know we have to make sure they do too.

This is a rare opportunity for a new leadership to draw a line under this cruelty, can the Rwanda plan, and instead pursue policies which actually represent who we are as a country.
