This is Shireen’s love story. A story which would not have happened under the new Nationality and Borders Bill.

This gorgeous film has been made by Eli, a participant of our Sanctuary in Politics course. She says:⁣ ⁣

“When I was tasked this project, immediately I began to think about all those beautiful stories that I heard while I was working as a caseworker at the Scottish Refugee Council. I knew the importance of those stories as they were positive and hopeful. Puppetry is only one of the many ways that you can use to share those beautiful stories whilst protecting people’s anonymity.⁣ ⁣

Shireen is one of the many refugees who may not have been able to settle in the UK under the horrendous new Nationality and Borders Bill. Her love story and thousands of others would not have happened if this Bill was law when she came to the UK.”⁣
