Human trafficking is one of the most misunderstood and growing crimes in Scotland.  It is happening near each of us, often referred to as ‘hidden in plain sight’.  Research shows the impact of human trafficking is profound and enduring from the moment of recruitment and further and higher education students are currently considered one of the most at risk groups.  This session will provide an introduction to human trafficking; dispelling some myths, describing basic indicators and reporting mechanisms, as well as sharing approaches other educational institutions are taking to combat this.

This short session will be delivered by Joy Gillespie, CEO,  Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland (SOHTIS).
