Co-Production: “Nothing about us without us”

Co-production is a way of working that brings together organisations and people with lived experience of seeking sanctuary as equal partners. Rather than designing services, projects, or activities for people, co-production means designing them with people.

When done well, co-production leads to more inclusive, effective, and responsive services, while creating opportunities for people to contribute their skills, experiences, and ideas.

This free toolkit has been designed to support people who want to work together in a meaningful, inclusive, and collaborative way. It provides practical guidance, tools, and information to help you plan, deliver, and review co-produced work.

Additional resources:

  • Getting Started – a short guide introducing the key principles of co-production and how to begin using the resource.
  • Checklist – a practical tool to help you plan, monitor, and reflect on your co-production activities.
  • Why Justice Matters for Sanctuary – to create lasting change, we need to understand how the asylum system works, and why it produces unequal experiences for people on the move.
