Places of Sanctuary Ireland is attracting huge interest for its first ever networking conference on 12th November in Dublin. Places of Sanctuary is the name for the growing network of local groups across the island of Ireland (North and South).
The conference, taking place in Dublin City Centre, will welcome delegates from as far apart as Cork in the South West and Causeway in the North-East, and will be an opportunity for supporters and volunteers from new and emerging groups right across Ireland to meet and share ideas. The conference will include a special section on streams, and a session looking at Ireland’s response to the refugee crisis, with input from refugees and programme coordinators from Northern Ireland as well as Ireland.
Ireland is known worldwide for its welcome, and many thousands have added their voices to the cry to welcome refugees recently. As resettled and relocated from the current crisis are introduced to communities in all corners of Ireland, there is a growing need to have the basic building blocks of awareness-raising, befriending and cultural engagement – the building blocks of City of Sanctuary groups – well established in cities, towns and villages. We look forward to the exciting opportunity the conference will afford. For more information contact [email protected] .
