We have a new activism pack, with ideas, a template letter to MPs and MP Briefings, to help you ask your MP to Let Refugees Learn
Refugees and asylum seekers who have fled to the UK want to rebuild their lives in peace. But, although they have reached safety, many of them can’t begin their new lives – working, studying, contributing to their community – because they can’t speak the language.
Refugee Action has teamed up with City of Sanctuary and Unison to ask our MPs to Let Refugees Learn. Throughout October and November, we’re asking you to get in touch with your MP – go and see them, invite them to an event, email or write – and outline why refugees should be given access to English language teaching. if you are an English language teacher, you can plan a lesson around writing letters and get your refugee students to write to their MPS and share their experiences of trying to access affordable and accredited ESOL classes.
Join us to put pressure on the Prime Minister: ask your MP to Let Refugees Learn
The pack includes an introduction to the Let Refugees Learn campaign, a briefing paper you can share with your MP, a template of a letter you could send to your MP and some ideas of how to involve your MP with the campaign.
