Consultation on reforming support for refused asylum seekers

Earlier this month, the government announced a consultation on proposed changes to asylum support, including the withdrawal of support from refused families.

The full consultation paper can be found here.

We are extremely concerned that ending support for refused asylum seeking families will have a major impact on the safety and welfare of children and families, as they will be forced into destitution.

City of Sanctuary will be submitting a response to the consultation outlining our concerns.

The Regional Asylum Activism Project has created a briefing on the consultation, with guidance about how to respond. That can be found here

Individuals and groups are encouraged to submit responses. The deadline is 9th September. There is more information about how to respond in the RAA briefing.
