If you can’t join us  – be sure to add your voice to the petition to Theresa May to end the detention of  women who seek asylum.

This looks like it will be an inspirational event and you are invited to bring musical instruments – tambourines, drums, triangles – and your voice and sing for freedom with the amazing Lips Choir and Manchester WAST choir.

Most of the women who are detained in Yarl’s Wood have come to the UK seeking asylum. Most of them are survivors of rape, sexual violence or other torture. They should not be locked up. Nor should they be subjected to male guards, some of whom have been known to abuse their power and add to their trauma. Please see our resources on detention and follow links to some of the appalling facts, that have emerged from the detention estate and in particular Yarl’s Wood.
