NACCOM (the No accommodation network) has just published a report on “Tackling Homelessness and Destitution amongst Migrants with No Recourse to Public Funds” which can be found here and also attached as a file.
It maps the extent and nature of accommodation projects run by NACCOM member groups, and will be a useful benchmark for future surveys, which they hope to undertake on an annual basis. While the numbers are useful to know (349 beds provided by 22 projects in 2013) it also provides real stories behind the figures and “shines a light” on the huge problem of destitution in modern civilised Britain. It is highly readable and recommended.
NACCOM were funded by Homelessness Transition Fund, which made the survey and report possible.
